Being in practice and collaboration with Em is the embodiment of ease and emergence.
While moving through our two years of somatic work to embody personal and collective liberatory cultures of care, Em tended to the fluctuating desires of our team with creative adaptability. From a variety of practices we could choose from that met our collective access needs to reflective prompts that carried us forward in the design justice movement space—I felt well held by their facilitation. It's clear that Em's commitment to creating containers where we can return to our bodies is not only what they offer as a somatic coach but also what they personally practice everyday. Their guidance will continue to shape how I move toward my commitments and will inform the ways I demand that justice movements make fortified spaces for us to drop back into ourselves.

Why Earthright, why now?

Our modern world is designed to disconnect us from our bodies because our bodies hold power. Our senses offer information, our inner feelings generate wisdom, our aliveness sparks pleasure and joy. These are powerful tools to speak truth, fight for what we care about, and build a future that is more beautiful and free for everyone. It is more important than ever to reconnect to our animal selves, remembering that we are of this Earth and that we belong. The world needs us to feel again; our future depends on it.
Earthright reclaims our right to the abundance that exists in our tissues. It is a practice ground and an intentional space to flex and build our muscles for rest, care, connection, trust, and resilience so we can use them more easily for the sake of climate justice and collective liberation.
In this 8-week process, you'll practice foundational somatic skills for reconnecting to your body, the Earth, and others around you. You'll get support to grow your toolkit for embodying your vision and values inside an affirming community who's there to learn, grow, and practice alongside you.

Meet your facilitator
Em Wright (they/them) is a somatic practitioner who focuses on the intersection of embodiment. climate justice, and systems change. They are a certified somatic coach through the Strozzi Institute, which shares the same lineage as generative somatics. They take a politicized, care-based, and trauma-informed approach and ground their work in their own personal somatic practice.

Em created an environment that made it possible to deeply tap in to myself.
They facilitated an experience that helped me name and prioritize the things that would help me return to center despite the chaos that we’re constantly bombarded with.

Q + A

Is previous somatic experience required?
No, the space will be held in a way that is accessible for newcomers and invites people with more experience to deepen in their practice.

What will the sessions be like?
Each session will start with opening practices to drop into our bodies and arrive in space together. We’ll have a check in to share how we’re showing up and access needs. Then we’ll work with 1-2 somatic practices to explore the session theme. We’ll debrief each practice with personal reflection and partner and/or group reflection. Then we’ll close the space. There will be a 10-15 minute break about halfway through the session.

Do I need to be on video every time?
No. The goal for these sessions to maximize participation is to truly embody the notion of "come as you are." If you're cooking dinner, stretching on the floor, laying in bed, or going for a walk—you can still join and participate in your own way. While some practices may be more accessible while in the privacy of your home space, but if you are in a public space, you're invited to find a way to engage that works for you in that context. In short, you don't need to show up 100% to show up. You are an integral part of the community of this space, and we want you there.

What if I miss a session?
While the intention is that everyone will be able to attend every session, life happens. In the event you cannot attend a session, you will have access to reflection prompts, practices, and resources from each session via the online hub.

Is this a training?
No, these sessions are not intended to train participants to facilitate or guide somatic practices with others. Instead, they are meant to be supportive for you in your own practice, even though they may (hopefully) inform how you show up in group and collective spaces, such as in your home, workplace, and community.
